HASBROUCK HEIGHTS BOARD OF EDUCATION
A work session meeting of the Board of Education was held on Thursday, October 15, 1998, in the Administration Building, 379 Boulevard, Hasbrouck Heights, New Jersey. The meeting was called to order at 7:30 p.m. by President, Mrs. Colleen Jarvis. Mrs. Jarvis read the following statement: "Pursuant to the New Jersey Open Public Meeting Act, Public Law 1975, Chapter 231, the Board Secretary caused notice of this meeting to be given to the public and the press on September 29, 1998". Roll Call was taken by Joseph T. Bellino, School Business Administrator/Board Secretary, and the following members responded to their names: Present - Mrs. Carroll Dr. MacDonall Mr. Case Absent None Also Present: Dr. Stepura, Mr. Bellino, Mr.Dzwilewski
Mrs. Jarvis reported that the in-service work session for the staff held on October 9, 1998 went well.
Mr. Casella reported on the following: 1. Tera Nova Tests Athletics and Recreation Committee Mrs. Fitzgibbons reported on the following: 1. Fall sports update. New program for middle level doing
well.
Dr. Eglow reviewed the resolutions to be acted upon at the October 22, 1998 public meeting. Dr. Eglow reported on the following: 1. Budget/Audit Future Directions Committee Mr. Suriano reported on the following: 1. Discussed October 19th meeting with technology
consultants and DMR. Building and Grounds Committee Dr. MacDonall reported on the following: 1. Talking with DMR about door specifications Community Relations Committee Mr. Casella reported on the following: 1. Discussion concerning low public attendance at board
meetings. Policy Committee Mrs. Nasuta reported on the following: 1. Labor Relations Committee Mrs. Carroll reported that we cannot discuss an employee
who is on sick leave until the employee has been properly notified. Board Issues and Discussions The members discussed the following: 1. Middle State Report of 1990 Correspondence/School Business Administrator/Board Secretary Report Mr. Bellino reported on the following: 1. Correspondence (on file in Board Office): Superintendent's Report Dr. Stepura reported on the following: 1. Recommendation for Math Prime teachers New Business The members discussed the resolution concerning bidding rights. There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 10:40 p.m. to private session. RESOLUTION: Whereas, in accordance with the provisions of the New Jersey Open Public 10-213A-98 Meetings Act the Now, Therefore Be It Resolved, that the Hasbrouck Heights Board of Education adjourn to Private Session for the purpose of discussing such matters, and Be It Further Resolved, that the public be informed of these matters as soon as the need to remain confidential is no longer necessary at a future date to be determined.
