Beautifying The Boulevard
On May 15, 2004 volunteers gathered at Franklin
Avenue & The Boulevard to begin planting flowers along The Boulevard.
Previously, the DPW had prepared the base of many trees in the business district for the
boro organized Boulevard planting. All tools and plants were supplied. [Story & photos]
Citizens Police Academy
HHPD sponsored a hands-on five week program that
featured: Be the Officer, Identity Theft, Internet Safety, First Aid, Crime Prevention,
Anti-Terrorism, etc. Academy was in the Municipal Complex on April 6, 20, 27 and May
4 and 11, 2004.
Fire Department Inspection
The HHFD Annual Inspection was conducted on at 7:00 p.m., May 8, 2004 at the
temporary Fire House located at the corner of Central and the Boulevard.

2nd Annual Bike Rodeo
On May 1, 2004, Cub Scout Pack 17 sponsored a bike rodeo from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at
Woodland Park for children from kindergarten through 6th grade. Bicycle helmets were
distributed free. State Farm Insurance provided children with a Bike License Certificate

Rau-Fitzgerald/Terlemezian Memorial Run/Walk
was held on April 24, 2004. The event was sponsored by the Hasbrouck Heights Education Association.

Offers School Tour April 22
Corpus Christi School in Hasbrouck Heights, offering PreK3-Grade 8 instruction,
provided parents the opportunity to plan for the upcoming school year by sponsoring a
Preview Day, Thursday, April 22nd. Parents received a personal tour of this
Catholic-education based school from 9-11 a.m. or from 1-2:30 p.m. Corpus Christis
excellent reputation of providing challenging academic programs along with a devoted staff

April 16 from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Municipal Complex Senior Center.

Technology Fair
From 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on March 8, 2004, the Hasbrouck Heights Board of Education
presented a Technology Fair in the high school cafeteria. There were student
presentations using existing classroom technology, advanced presentations by vendors and
video technology connecting classrooms to other sites. The school system's new web-site www.hashgts.k12.nj.us was introduced. Door prize
was a free computer. Refreshments were available. The event was produced by Tom Matty,
technology coordinator. A Board of Education budget presentation followed in the

Boulevard Ribbon Program Nets $2,500
The Center for Food Action received a check for $2,500 during a brief ceremony at
Bill O'Shea's Florist on February 26, 2004. The contribution was the result of
hundreds of area residents buying a ribbon and the Knights of Columbus putting up the
ribbons along The Boulevard.[Story]

Corpus Christi School celebrates Catholic Schools Week
Corpus Christi School celebrates Catholic Schools Week in Hasbrouck Heights,
January 25th to January 30th. The theme is "A Faith-Filled Future". Each
day, along with 8,000 other Catholic schools nationwide, Corpus Christi School will
celebrate how our school makes a difference in our parish, our community, our students,
our nation, our volunteers and our teachers. [Release]
Annual Ecumenical Epiphany Procession
An Ecumenical procession was held from 4:00 to 5:00 p.m., on Sunday,
January 4, 2004.
At each church there was a tableau to recount the Journey of the Magi, and included brief
reciting of liturgy, and a short refrain. Light refreshments followed the service. [Photos & story]

Tiffany Amariuta Wins Pre-Teen New Jersey Junior Division Title
The 2003 Pre-Teen New Jersey Scholarship and Recognition Program was held August
15-17, 2003 at the Parsippany Hilton in Parsippany, NJ. Over 800 pre-teens from New Jersey
applied, but only 92 were chosen as state finalists to compete for the junior (7-9 year
olds) and senior (10-12 year olds) division title. Tiffany Amariuta, a 5th grade
student at Lincoln School in Hasbrouck Heights.

Teterboro Airport celebrates 100 years of aviation. [Index] to about
200 photos and movies of the Wright "B" Flyer being assembled in Teterboro
Airport during Memorial Day Weekend for the historic 1909 re-enactment flight around the
Statue of Liberty.
Wright "B' Flyer Movie
On December 17 at 1:30 p.m., the NJ Aviation Hall
of Fame, (with the Hudson Valley Stamp and Historical Society) -- held a special
ceremony commemorating the 100th Anniversary of the Wright Brothers first sustained
powered flight. The Postal Service set up a temporary post office where the Wright
Brothers stamp was unveiled, and a special pictorial cancellation "The First Powered

October 30, 2003 -- Port Authority Chairman Anthony R. Coscia told Federal
Aviation Administrator that the Port Authority will continue to fight the FAAs
