M I N U T E S May 8, 2001 A Regular Meeting of the Mayor and Council of the Borough of Hasbrouck Heights was held on May 8, 2001 at 8 p.m. at the Masonic Hall, 200 Division Avenue, corner of the Boulevard, Hasbrouck Heights, New Jersey. Mayor Torre stated that the meeting complied with the Sunshine Law, due notice having been made to all members by personal service on January 1, 2001 and to The Observer, The Record and the Herald News on January 1, 2001.
Absent: None
SALUTE TO THE FLAG AND PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE: Mayor Torre led in the Salute to the Flag and Pledge of Allegiance.
COMMUNICATIONS: None
APPROVAL OF MINUTES: (March 27, 2001 & April 10, 2001) On a motion by Councilman Heeren, seconded by Councilman Pepe, and unanimously carried, the foregoing Minutes were approved.
BILLS: BE IT RESOLVED that the claims and accounts amounting to $1,850,466.34 specified in the schedule hereto annexed, having been examined and approved by the Finance Commissioner, or his Deputy, be paid and that warrants be issued therefor. Signed Andrew Link III On a motion by Councilman Pepe, seconded by Councilman Wassberg, and unanimously carried, the foregoing Resolution was adopted.
Before the agenda continued, Councilman John Wassberg informed residents of the Fire Department Inspection to be held at the Masonic Hall on May 19, 2001, and Councilwoman Verrastro informed residents of a Rally opposing 170,000 lb. Jets at Teterboro Airport that would be held on Thursday, June 7 at 5 p.m.
CONSENT AGENDA: On a motion by Councilman DiPisa, seconded by Councilman Pepe, and unanimously carried, the foregoing Consent Agenda was approved (Copy attached).
RESOLUTIONS: 62. Dog Licenses - Payment of Fees to State 63. Authorizing Appointment of Mark S. Ruderman as Labor Attorney 64. Authorizing Municipal Snow Plowing Agreement with the County of Bergen for the 2001-2002 Snow Plowing Season 65. Authorizing Sidewalk Sales during Farmers Market for 2001 Summer Season On a motion by Councilman Wassberg, seconded by Councilman DiPisa, and unanimously carried, the foregoing Resolutions were approved. RESIGNATIONS: On a motion by Councilman Wassberg, seconded by Councilman Pepe, and unanimously approved, the foregoing Resignation was accepted with regret.
ORDINANCE (S) ON INTRODUCTION: ORDINANCE NO. 1927: BE IT RESOLVED that an Ordinance entitled: "AN ORDINANCE AMENDING PARAGRAPH (1) OF SUBSECTION L. PERTAINING TO THE CONDUCT OF FARMERS MARKETS OF SECTION 275-20 ENTITLED "REGULATIONS GOVERNING CERTAIN PRINCIPAL USES" OF CHAPTER 275 ENTITLED "ZONING" OF THE CODE OF THE BOROUGH OF HASBROUCK HEIGHTS SO AS TO CHANGE THE DATES BETWEEN WHICH SUCH MARKETS CAN BE LAWFULLY CONDUCTED" introduced this date be and the same is hereby passed on first reading and the Borough Clerk be directed to advertise notice of public hearing on said Ordinance to be held at the regular meeting of the Borough Council on May 22, 2001.
ORDINANCE NO. 1928: BE IT RESOLVED that an Ordinance entitled: "AN ORDINANCE TO FIX THE SALARY AND COMPENSATION OF CERTAIN OF THE OFFICERS AND EMPLOYEES OF THE BOROUGH OF HASBROUCK HEIGHTS, NEW JERSEY, FOR THE YEAR 2001" introduced this date be and the same is hereby passed on first reading and the Borough Clerk be directed to advertise notice of public hearing on said Ordinance to be held at the regular meeting of the Borough Council on May 22, 2001.

ORDINANCE NO. 1930: BE IT RESOLVED that an Ordinance entitled: "AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND AN ORDINANCE ENTITLED "AN ORDINANCE TO FIX THE SALARY AND COMPENSATION OF MEMBERS OF THE DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS OF THE BOROUGH OF HASBROUCK HEIGHTS, NEW JERSEY, FOR THE YEAR 2001" introduced this date be and the same is hereby passed on first reading and the Borough Clerk be directed to advertise notice of public hearing on said Ordinance to be held at the regular meeting of the Borough Council on May 22, 2001. On a motion by Councilwoman Verrastro, seconded by Councilman DiPisa, and unanimously carried, the following Ordinances on Introduction were approved. This being the first meeting of the month, the Mayor dispensed with opening the meeting to the public and said that the meeting would be open to the public on May 22, 2001.
RECESS FOR CAUCUS: The Mayor announced that the meeting would be recessed for Caucus.
ADJOURN: There being no further business to be conducted by the Mayor and Council, the meeting was adjourned.
