Heck Named Assembly
GOP Conference Leader

Assemblywoman Rose M. Heck has been named Conference Leader of the Assembly Republican caucus for the new legislative session, Assembly Speaker Jack Collins announced today.

As Conference Leader, Heck will be responsible for organizing and presiding over the debate on bills in the Assembly Republican caucus. In addition, she will act as a liaison between leadership and the caucus on the session agenda and will facilitate orderly floor debates.

I am truly honored to serve as Conference Leader for the new legislative session, said Heck, R-Bergen. My experience as chairwoman of several Assembly committees will enhance my work in leading important discussions on the legislative initiatives we will undertake in the Assembly. Our work will have a significant impact on the lives of New Jersey's citizens and I feel confident that as Conference Leader I will help to facilitate our goal of improving the quality of life for all of our residents.

In addition, Heck was re-appointed chairwoman of the Assembly Light Rail Legislative Panel, whose work has received statewide recognition and has resulted in the new Hudson/Bergen Light Rail Transit Line

Heck will also continue her work as chairwoman of the Assembly Advisory council on Women, which has made great strides for women throughout New Jersey and successfully advocated tougher domestic violence laws.

Heck was also appointed a member of the Assembly Law & Public Safety Committee and the Assembly State Government Committee.

Heck has served in the Assembly since 1991 and held several leadership positions, including chairwoman of the Assembly Policy & Regulatory Oversight Committee, Assembly Light Rail Legislative Panel, Assembly Advisory Council on Women, Assembly Task Force on Domestic Violence, and Assembly Senior Citizens and Social Services Committee. She has received statewide recognition for her work on domestic violence and the Hudson Bergen Light Rail Transit.
