Reorganization Meeting 2004
Borough history was made on January
3, 2004 with the first reorganization meeting in the new Boro Hall. Also a new Mayor
and two councilmen were sworn into office representing a new administration.
The events began with Mayor William J. Torre concluding an adjourned meeting of the Mayor
& Council (Sine Die Meeting). Upon the completion of unfinished municipal business,
Mayor Torre gave his State of the Town address. Councilman Herbert D. Heeren provided a
few departing comments.
The Hasbrouck Heights Fire Department Color Guard posted the Colors.
Assemblywoman Rose Marie Heck conducted the Oath of Office to Mayor-elect Ronald R. Jones
and Councilmen-elect Ronald F. Kistner and Thomas E. Meli.
Mayor Jones declared the 2004 Reorganization Meeting in session. There was a Salute
to the Flag, Pledge of Allegiance and invocation by Fr. Lewis V. Papera, Corpus Christi
Pastor.
Mayor Jones presented Assemblywoman and former Mayor Rose Marie Heck with an official
proclamation for her contributions to Hasbrouck Heights.
Fire Department officers were sworn into office. Boro Clerk Rose Sees read the Council
assignments, communications and consent agenda. The council elected Garrett Pepe as
Council President. The Mayor made appointments and requested Council
confirmation. Mayor Jones made his Inaugural Address. Council members made
their comments. Public comments were made by Assemblywoman Rose Mare Heck and
Bergen County Freeholder Louis A. Tedesco, Jr. made presentations to Mayor Jones and
Councilmen Kistner and Meli.
The Benediction was said by Rev. Joseph Pickard, Fire Department Chaplain and Vicar of
Church of St. John the Divine. Light refreshments were served in the Senior Citizens
Center.
