New Nativity Scene Arrives
in time for Christmas 2004

For many years the borough Nativity and Menorah were set up at The Circle.

After issues were raised regarding the placement on public property, Corpus Christi Church gave permission to set up the Manger and Menorah scene on their lawn next to the Rectory, facing The Boulevard.

A mid-December wind storm in 2000 knocked over the Nativity -- destroying sections of the manger and crushing some of the recently painted figurines. The decorations were removed by the DPW. [Photos]

These decorations were property of the town.

No prominent Nativity and Menorah were set up for the 2001, 2002 or 2003 holiday season.

On the occasion of their 25th marriage anniversary, Louise and John Verdonck donated the exquisite Fontanini outdoor figures of the Holy Family.

Joe Luna and Mike Marello used their time and talent to build the beautiful outdoor stable, along with the help of men from the Cursillo.  Plant Manager Pat DiMartino assisted.

There was a blessing of the Holy Family and the manger after the 10:30 mass on Sunday, December 26th -- The Feast of the Holy Family. ###
