MDA Labor Day Telethon Volunteers
@ VFW Post 2007
The 42nd Muscular Dystrophy Telethon began Sunday, September
2, 2007 at 9 p.m. and ran through Monday, September 3rd until
6 p.m. Over 300 volunteers helped answer 100 phones and stuffed
and mailed letters.
A first for this year’s telethon - they “retired”
one of their phones, took it to the NY studio, had it personally
autographed by Tony Orlando, then raffled it off at the Pledge
Center. An additional $400 was raised and the winner was Phyllis
Caporino of Hasbrouck Heights.
This regional pledge center, located at VFW Post 4591, has served
Northern NJ, Manhattan and Staten Island for 36 years, taking
in $240,000 in pledges. ### |
