88th Memorial Day Service -- 2006

Veterans [Honor Roll]

A brief memorial ceremony was led by American Legion Commander Michael J. Cahill.

Conchita Parker led the National Anthem and Pastor Dianna L. Smith of the First Reformed Church delivered the invocation.

Mayor Ronald R. Jones and Council President Thomas Meli commented on the significance of Memorial Day.

Veterans, dignitaries and the public then placed their poppies at the base of the Monument.

American Legion Commander Michael Cahill and Robert Burns did a roll call of the Veterans who had died -- with VFW Post 4591 Chaplain Charles Petro answering "Absent."

The High School Band buglers played Taps.

The final benediction was said by the Rev. Edward J. Glasser of the Community United Church.

Light refreshments were served by the event co-sponsors at the James B. Scarr Post 106 American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4591. ###
