The biggest and best Chamber Parade kicked-off at 7:00 p.m. on a rainy November 28. There
were floats, marching bands, antique cars, fire trucks -- Plus Santa! Santa also

Annual CROP WALK
The entire community was invited to attend this year's CROP Walk on Sunday,
November 9, beginning at 1:30 p.m. at the First Reformed Church. The 2.4 mile route was along Burton &
Oak Grove. Refreshments were served. The CROP
WALK is an interfaith community event that helps local food pantries and food banks,
offers shelter for refugees and displaced families, and provides food and water in parts
of Africa where drought related famine imperils millions of families.
Neighbors walked to support world wide programs to help eliminate poverty and hander.

The ministry of the Episcopal Church of St. John the Divine officially opened
it's "Care on the Corner" during celebration and recognition ceremonies held
October 11, 2003, at 333 Franklin Avenue in Hasbrouck Heights. "Care on the
Corner" is a resource center providing social services for the under-served and

Perry Award Nominations
The Corpus Christi Community Theatre ahs been nominated
by RECT (Recognition of Excellence in Community Theater) for five Perry Awards. The Perry
Awards are the "Tony's of community theatre. This year 180 shows were reviewed. The
fall production of"Don't Drink the Water" was chosen as one of the top seven
productions in NJ. Awards will presented on September 28.

HHFD Ready for First Response
The Hasbrouck Height Police Department held training at the Franklin School Gym
on July 10, 2003. Included in the training was preparation for chemical &
biological accidents that may occur in Hasbrouck Heights, or to respond to a terrorist
attack in the area. In preparation for such incidents, each radio car has been
equipped with a special suit and members of the HHPD learned the correct procedures in
putting it on during an emergency. First Response

* Annual Little League Picnic
The HHLL held its Annual Picnic for the 350 town families involved in the 2003 season on
Saturday June 28, 2003 from noon to 6:00 p.m. at the Little League Complex. Families
enjoyed plenty of grilled foods and cold drinks. There were three amusements, games
and face painting. Trophy presentations were made. Nice way to end the regular season. [2003 Picnic]
This year, the HHLL has 6 All-Star teams (involving 80 players) in tournament play that
has just
begun and will continue 'til about August 1st. Our town has also been selected as a
neutral site to host 4 baseball games that are part of the national Williamsport
tournament.

Every Tuesday afternoon at The Boulevard & Washington Ave. 12-6 p.m. from June
17 to September 30.

Veteran's Memorial
Walkway
Engraved brick pavers with Veteran's names were placed in a Memorial Walkway in
Veterans Park on Terrace Ave & Passaic. Memorial Day Dedication was postponed to
Saturday, June 14 at 11 a.m..

C21 brings in Flag Day
It was red, white and blue on
the morning of Flag Day June 14th, where just about every home in Hasbrouck Heights had an
flag on their front lawn compliments of Century 21/Eudan Realty. Additionally, just
about every home in town pesented their own American flag, and some even displayed their
service and state flags. [Photo]
Hitchcock Field
This is the same turf used at Giant Stadium. Field is used by Recreation
Department Soccer teams as well as high school and middle school physical education
programs. Cost was $450,000. Many local companies and organization donated to the project.

Hall of Fame
The Hasbrouck
Heights Education Foundation and the Hasbrouck Heights Athletic Department have
planned the 2nd Annual Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony and Dinner for October
30, 2003 at the Landmark. Arthur Cebrowski, Barbara Kiefer Smith will be inducted for
their academic achievements. Raymond Koch and Herbert Weisser will be inducted for both
academic and athletic achievement. Athletic Hall of Fame inductees will be: Alan Pheifer,
Eugene Dinallo, Bill Linnell, Gerry Dinallo, Eddie Mabel, Bob Leckie, John Krommenhock,
Marc Fioravanti, Bobby Fioravanti, Kip Vernaglia, Ken Zahn and Paige Fuller. The 1945 and
1972 Football Teams will also be inducted.

10th Annual Window Painting Contest
Stroll The Boulevard during
late-October where local businesses in conjunction with the three grammar school
PTAs are sponsoring the 10th Annual Halloween Window Painting Contest. Over 300 3rd,
4th and 5th grade students paint a Halloween theme illustration on a space provided by
Boulevard businesses.
Graphics are judged upon originality and artistic expression. Winners from each grade
receive 1st, 2nd and 3rd Place Ribbons. All participants receive ribbons.
Event is sponsored by: Hasbrouck Heights Chamber of Commerce in cooperation with
2003 Home School Association chairs: Sue Picheria & Linda Santangelo (Corpus
Christi), and
PTA chairs: Laura French (Lincoln) and Cheryl Cutruzzula & Cindy Stinson (Euclid).

can join the parade at any time along the route. This years entertainment will

Preview the film Thirty-Six
The VFW Post 4591 welcomes you to the private
screening of Thirty-Six, a documentary film. In 1966, during the course of three months, commencing in October and
ending in December, three natives to the Borough of Hasbrouck Heights, New Jersey: Thomas
James Holden, Michael Joseph Macarell, and Robert Gandil; lost their lives while serving
their country during the Vietnam War. On October 27, 2002, some thirty-six years later,
the Borough of Hasbrouck Heights gathered to dedicate a
memorial to the three men, and pay tribute to those heroes of war. [More info about film]
The film is scheduled for 12 noon on October 26,
2003 .
The master of ceremonies will be Dan Vecchio.

Candlelight Procession along Burton to the Circle will begin at 7:00 at from Corpus
Christi Church, proceed along Burton Avenue to include First Reformed Church, St. John the
Divine, Holy Trinity Lutheran, United Methodist, Euclid School and proceed to The Circle for a Memorial Service at 7:45 p.m.. Bring

School Re-opens September 3, 2003
English as a Second Language
Registration and testing for placement for free adult ESL Classes will be held
from 7-9 p.m. on September 3 and September 10 at St. John the Divine Church. All new
and returning students must be registered. New students must also be tested on one
of these evenings. Classes will be begin on Wednesday, September 17 and will be held
every Wednesday from 7-9 p.m.. Instruction in English will be offered at beginner,
intermediate and advanced levels. Textbooks are $25. For more info call

Free Roses - Bring Food
On September 4 @ Circle, Bill O'Shea's Florist will give away 500 Dozen Roses
FREE. The Center for Food Action will collect
basic non-perishable food items such as juice, cereal, canned goods, pasta, baby food,
etc. Items should not be open, expired or in glass jars.
